Parrot (Other) - Medium - Adult - Female - Bird - BROOKE

*UPDATE* - Brooke and Holly are still looking for their new home! They have been here since August of 2008, but there must be someone looking for a pair of low-maintainance parrots. These two are much more bonded with each other than with people, so they don't mind if you're not home all the time. They would be the perfect birds for someone who works normal hours or doesn't have a lot of time to spend with an attention-demanding parrot. They love to spend the day (or evening, if you're at work during the day) hanging out on top of their cages where they can preen each other, play with toys, or leisurely eat their meals. Then they settle in their cages for the night or when you're gone for a while. They would also be a good transition from smaller birds up to the big guys as they aren't demanding attention or looking for a whole lot of interaction. They have been getting better at eating a healthy diet full of fruits and veggies, although they still love a seed treat. These two LOVE to have showers with a gentle squirt bottle - they puff up their feathers and make turkey noises! Brooke and Holly are green Amazon parrots. They are shy with new people but not aggressive. They have always lived together and need to go into the same home. Brooke and Holly love to have out of cage time together, and will need a large enough cage for two amazons or else two separate cages. They are well behaved when out of their cages, and like to hang out on perches above the cage. These two stay on their cage and only fly off when frightened. At this point in their lives, the two of them are looking for a home where they won't be asked to interact with people that much. Brooke is the more outgoing and will step up and sit on your shoulder. Holly is more reserved, and although she will take treats from your hand she is currently leery of making the bold step onto you. They have not had a lot of socialization in the past, and are now easily overwhelmed with new objects. Their new owner will need to be understanding and allow them to adjust slowly to new things in their environment. Both Brooke and Holly love treats like fresh fruits and almonds. Their favorite toys, aside from almonds in the shell, are small wooden beads which they can chew up. Recently, they discovered that it's fun to tear up tiny unflavored rawhide bones. These parrots are still young at 6 years old. Please stop by and ask to meet these two if you are interested.
